Every day in Nepal, a woman is being tortured in the name of “boksi”. Usually widows and wives whose husband has left her are treated as “boksi”. These so called “boksi” are physically and mentally traumatized every day.
People drag her in front the society and blame her for each and every superstitious thing and tag her with various names. She is tortured for her crimes that she never committed.The torture includes forceful feeding of feces and beatings.
This sorts of inhuman practices are carried out in our society/villages. Even her own family leave her because of society and let her be alone. Where are the rules against this kind of practice? Where is the law for this kind of crime?Is this the kind of work taught by our culture?
The police are there to stop this kind of violence against women but where is the penalty for this kind of behaviors?why families fails to raise there voice against this? why each and every time once more society is given more priorities then family?
